Skills Development
& Experimentation

Today (16/09/2019), I have taken a few photos withing the college as I need to practice and improve my camera skills. The settings I have been using were 100 ISO and also I chose to save the photos as JPEG and RAW files. While taking photos it is always better to save the images as RAW files because you have control over the photo settings and you can edit it the way you like. Down below are my JPEG pictures.

Today I have been working on a poster for my first time in Illustrator. Down below is the outcome. It is only a test as I didn't think much about what words to use. However, probably this is going to be the final design, with a few edits on text alignment, colours and small stuff like that. I still have to think about what my project is going to be and also what words I will use in the poster as they will be my slogan.

This is the poster I created today (18/09/2019), it is a poster where I just used my imagination and creativity and I have been mainly using shapes such as circles and rectangles. I thought of using this poster for my actual project but I will have to add in something that will make sense about my topic. I will probably come back to this poster in the future.

This is the mindmap, I have created for my documentary. Most probably my topic will be about obesity as in my opinion it is a social problem nowadays that keeps increasing each year.

Today (25/09/2019), I have created a cartoon coke can. I created it as I want to use it for my image where I will use surrealism.
It was easy for me to create this cartoon as I have done one in the previous year. However, I didn't focus too much on all the details of the can as the main attention I want to be on the idea of my surrealism image, instead of a can.

Today (30/09/2019), I have experienced for my first time in Adobe Bridge. It is a very useful Software as it helps you to be very organized. Overall, today we looked at Bridge as a planning software for your pictures. I like the software as on your pictures you can add ratings and keywords, in my opinion these are the most important ones as you don't need to delete any image, you just gave it 1 star and you know the image is not as good, however, for a better picture you will give for example 5 stars and a keyword such as "client" so, you know what the image is for.

In the pictures down below I presented the different setup lightings I have been using for my different camera setup lightings.

This setup was for the anonymous silhouette, we used a strong light at the back of the person.

This is my surrealism image. I used an image and a few elements (Coke, fries, donuts, etc) from one of my previous projects to create a surrealism image. I didn't want to do something completely new as I feel that I am behind with my project and I am trying to save time.

This is the Logo that I created for my Social Campaign about obesity. I chose a slim font-type to represent the contrast of being obese which is being slim. I chose the background color to be Green as in my opinion green represents the idea of healthy.

Down below I have another two designs that I've tried but none of them are looking "professional" in my opinion. Therefore, I decided to stick with the idea from the top. What I think doesn't work at these designs is that the first idea from down below (one with lots of food) is looking more like a sport campaign, maybe to advertise a company such as Adidas, Nike etc. For the second design from down below I don't think the text is looking nice, therefore I didn't want to expand my idea on that one.

After receiving feedback from my class I can infer that the pro's about my rough cut documentary are that I had good use of transition, good use of open questions, nice fade, the intro was unconventional as usually the editors add in their name and age while the interviewers are answering the first question. They are adding in their name and age using the lower thirds, something that I will probably change and I will represent their name and age using the lower thirds rule. Also the feedback from class suggested that I finished the documentary in a positive way.

The con's about my rough cut are that I shouldn't use the videos with audio errors because they are unprofessional and I better cut them off and have a shorter documentary but more qualitative. I should also add in B-Rolls with price comparison between healthy food and junk food and maybe include the MCDonald's advert as this is one of the biggest junk/fast food companies in history. Also to exclude any background noise I should add in background music and also it will increase my audience's attention. Also I should double check the camera before recording because I don’t want to have an actor sitting centered in the rule of thirds or an actor to be too high and half his head to be cut off.

This is an re-enactment of a scene from film called Kings Speech. We were split in
two different splits and each one of us had a different role. For example, I was the
actor and I had to role-play as in a real scene. It was difficult for me as I have never
done it before. After we finished filming, we had to sync the video with the audio and
link up the videos altogether because we had a recording for each line as it was hard
to remember all the lines in the amount of time that we had.

These are the flyer pages that I created for my social campaign. I wanted to create something simple as I am lacking in time.
